The Project
We recently completed a full electrical rewire on this three-bedroom detached property in Johnstone, just outside Paisley — finishing the entire job in just two days. The property had an antiquated fuse board that immediately flagged the need for a full upgrade, and with a new kitchen planned and the customer wanting to rethink the layout of sockets and switches throughout, starting from scratch was the clear and sensible choice.
The Challenge
As our team leader Zach explains, you don’t always need a specialist eye to spot when a property needs rewiring — sometimes the fuse board tells the whole story straight away. Beyond the outdated electrics, the customer had future building work in mind, including a full kitchen renovation. Getting the rewire done first meant no hidden surprises further down the line, with everything planned around the changes ahead.
How We Approached It
We began with a full walk-around with the customer, mapping out exactly where switches, sockets, and spotlights would go and factoring in all the personal touches they wanted throughout the home. From there, carpets were lifted and floorboards assessed to plan cable routes — we always work top down, starting from above and cleaning our way out as we go.
Day one covered all first fix work — making routes, grinding walls, chasing out the brickwork, and getting all new cabling in place throughout the property. By day two, our plasterer Gary was on site carrying out all wall repairs while our team moved straight into fitting all the accessories, including the customer’s own decorative lighting.
