The Project
We recently completed a full electrical rewire on this three-bedroom semi-detached property in Lochwinnoch, Renfrewshire — a 1970s build that still had its original wiring in place. With the house empty throughout, our three-person team worked efficiently across two days to strip out the old installation entirely and replace it with a modern, fully certified electrical system, including plaster repairs before we left.
The Challenge
Homes built between the 1930s and 1980s across Renfrewshire and the wider Glasgow area commonly reach a point where their original wiring simply can’t keep up with the demands of modern living. In this property, the existing installation had reached the end of its serviceable life — the fuse board was outdated, circuit protection didn’t meet current standards, and the wiring had never been designed to handle today’s electrical loads. How We Approached It
Day one focused entirely on getting the property ready for plaster. Our team lifted floorboards where necessary, ran all new cabling throughout the house, and installed vertical cable runs inside the walls for sockets and switches. By the end of the first day, the full electrical infrastructure was in place across all rooms.
Day two covered the consumer unit installation, fitting all sockets and switches, connecting the lighting circuits, and carrying out full electrical testing. Once the electrical work was signed off, our plasterer came in to apply a bonding coat and finish coat to all affected areas — leaving the property clean and ready for decorating.
